New Features

• The following updates have been made to reflect the 2025 ASME code edition updates:

  • Page and line numbers have been updated as well as new materials have been added for SC II, D 2025. Additionally, changes to the material tables (e.g.UCS-23, UHA-23, UNF-23.1, and so on) in Section VIII-1 2025 have been updated. The changes to the TM tables, TE tables, and External Pressure Charts have been updated in SC II, D 2025. (DC-13202)

  • ASME B16.5 and B16.47 have been updated to the 2025 edition of the corresponding codes. This involves materials being assigned to a new material group assignment and new pressure-temperature values in many of the tables to better reflect metric values. (DC-13471)

  • The Appendix 2 flanges within the software have been updated to support the 2025 code edition changes, including:

    • Appendix 2 references have been updated to 4.16.

    • The gasket options have been updated to get rid of the two types of seating columns and only have one option available now. The facing sketch options have been updated to reflect the changes in what are allowed to be selected.

    • The addition of welded slip-on type flanges has been added to the UI and calculations. (DC-13100, DC-13953, DC-13109, DC-13944, DC-13118)

  • The Appendix 5 thick-walled expansion joints have been updated to reference the correct locations as per 4.20 in Section VIII-2. (DC-13155)

  • The Appendix 9 jacketed vessels have been updated to reference the correct locations as per 4.11 in Section VIII-2. (DC-13128)

  • The Appendix 24 clamps have been updated to reference the correct locations with Paragraph UCC of Section VIII-1. Additionally, the gasket options reflect the changes implemented in Appendix 2. (DC-13137)

  • The Non-mandatory Appendix EE half-pipe jackets have been updated to use the same nomenclature from with 4.11 in Section VIII-2. (DC-13146)

  • The paragraph references for UG-16 and UHA-51 have been updated to reflect the rewrites of the mentioned paragraphs. (DC-13714, DC-13732)

• Wind and Seismic codes have been updated to include IBC 2024. (DC-10974, DC-11007)

• Rated Flanges now support Code Case 2901-1 for expanded FM values. (DC-12337)

• External load evaluation for rated flanges has been expanded to all flange types, using the same calculation approach applied to weld neck flanges. (DC-12498)

• A new Check for Updates option has been added to the Help menu, allowing users to verify whether a newer version of DesignCalcs is available, similar to the CEI Portal. (DC-11064)

• The Help menu now includes quick links to CEI’s on-demand software learning platform (Think Tank Academy), release notes, CEI and Paulin Research Group newsletters, and license information. (DC-13488, DC-13052)

• For nozzles, a new Threading Allowance input field has been added, and this value is carried throughout all nozzle calculations. (DC-13518, DC-13619)

• For nozzles, the orientation angle input fields now accept up to four decimal places for greater precision during nozzle creation, and this added precision is carried throughout the nozzle calculations. (DC-12687)

• The following updates have been made to the JSON export and import buttons:

  • The JSON export button can now import nozzles with host types of shells, hemi heads, torispherical heads, ASME F&D heads, and cones. (DC-11625)

  • The JSON export button can now import rated flanges. (DC-11750)

  • The JSON export button can now import custom flanges. (DC-11739)

  • The JSON export button can now import studded outlets. (DC-11772)

  • The JSON export button can now import hemi heads, torispherical heads, ASME F&D heads, and ellipsoidal heads. (DC-11603)

  • The JSON export button can now import base plates, skirts, and intermediate supports. (DC-11636)

  • The JSON export button can now import and export lifting lugs, legs, and support rings and lugs. (DC-10747, DC-11164, DC-11340)

  • The JSON export button can now import and export flat heads. (DC-11142)

  • The JSON export button can now import and export blind flanges. (DC-11481)
