This month, CEI is proud to celebrate an incredible milestone as one of our team members marks 25 years with the company. Tamala Johnson, our Business Development Sales Manager has had quite a journey with CEI.
Her time with CEI began on July 6, 2001, when she stopped by our office on a whim while looking for a job closer to home. Hired that same day for a data entry position, she quickly discovered new opportunities to learn and grow. Over the years, her willingness to take on new challenges has led her through multiple roles and made her an invaluable part of the CEI team.
When asked what has kept her at CEI for a quarter century, her answer wasn't software or technology—it was the relationships.
From getting to know customers beyond the projects they work on to celebrating milestones in their lives, she believes the best business relationships are built on genuine human connection.

"I'm not here just to sell a product but to understand we all have lives outside of our work environment. Sometimes people are dealing with a lot, so offering a kind ear is something I try to do."
She's equally appreciative of the team around her, describing them in one word: supportive. Whether celebrating successes or working through challenges, she credits her coworkers with creating an environment where everyone helps one another grow.
Looking back, one of the accomplishments she's most proud of wasn't tied to a sale or software release—it was helping organize a food drive that brought the CEI team together to support a local community organization. Despite being a small company at the time, the team made a meaningful impact.
Over the past 25 years, she's watched both CEI and the industry evolve. From advances in software to the emergence of AI, she sees technology continuing to improve how organizations manage compliance by reducing manual work, improving data accuracy, and helping keep people and facilities safe.
When reflecting on her career, one memory stands out above the rest: meeting customers in person during a DesignCalcs and ProWrite workshop hosted at CEI headquarters.
What excites you most about the future of CEI and code-compliant pressure equipment?
